Jorina, in Bangladesh, wasn’t one to hide her faith despite the risks. So when 15 women from the village invited her into a house, Jorina thought they wanted to hear about Jesus.
In reality, Jorina was walking into a trap… The women forced Jorina to strip. They were looking for a physical ‘seal’ on her body, because a local myth suggests converts are literally ‘marked’. But they also wanted to publicly humiliate Jorina. Shame her for her faith in Christ.
“It was very sensitive and deeply shameful,” remembers Jorina. “I cried a lot.”
Hope is hanging by a thread for persecuted women. Many, like Jorina, are subject to shame, rejection and abuse – targeted for both their gender and their faith – and they suffer alone and hidden from view.
But Jorina has not given up – and neither must you. Jorina now runs a small house church and teaches local women they are precious to God. She urgently needs your help.
“In Bangladesh’s Muslim society, women are neglected,” says Jorina.“ I want women to know the way to heaven.”
